The filmed stage production had an impressive run in theaters after opening across North America on July 24. In its first weekend, it earned $10.2 million, beating the $10.1 million opening weekend of Hamilton’s theatrical stage capture in 2025. The result made Hadestown the biggest opening for a live theater capture at the North American box office.

For anyone who didn’t make it to the theater, there’s an easier way to see what all the fuss is about. Starting today, the filmed musical is available for digital purchase and rental through services including Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. On both platforms, the purchase price is $24.99, while a 48-hour rental is listed at $19.99.
And if you’d rather own a copy, the Blu-ray and DVD editions are already available for preorder on Amazon ahead of their October release.

Many viewers prefer Apple TV for its strong picture quality, particularly when streaming movies and shows in 4K. Some users also report that Apple TV can deliver higher video bitrates than built-in smart TV apps on certain services, which may result in a sharper, more detailed image. If you’re looking to get as close as possible to the visual quality of a Broadway production from home, the Apple TV 4K rental is a worthwhile option, especially if you already have a Apple TV box.
