Andrew Garfield is getting into true crime. The Oscar-nominated actor plays a police detective in the new limited series, Under the Banner of Heaven, which premiered exclusively on Hulu on Thursday (April 28).

Set in Utah, the six-episode FX series centers around a detective whose faith gets shaken while investigating the heinous double murder of a Mormon mother and daughter.

Jeb Pyre (Garfield), a detective and devout member of the church, leads the investigation that ultimately makes him question his faith in the Church of Latter-Day Saints. Under the Banner of Heaven was adapted from the best-selling novel of the same name by John Karkauer.
