It’s almost time for the NBA Finals! The Eastern Conference finals heads to Indiana as the Pacers host the Boston Celtics for Game 2 on Thursday (May 23) on ESPN.
The Celtics landed a 133-128 victory over the Celtics to win Game 1 in overtime.
Celtics small forward Jayson Tatum, who scored 36 points on Tuesday, called Game 1 the “definition of a team win” during a post-game interview.
“It really just felt like we had a second chance,” he said of the game going into overtime. “At the end of the third and fourth quarter, we didn’t necessarily play well enough where we may have deserved to win. I obviously made some plays at the end, JB (Jaylon Brown) gave us a second chance landing that [3-point] shot. We talked about it in the huddle: ‘We got a second chance, let’s take advantage of it and figure out how to win this game.’”

But there’s still work to do, Tatum added. “It doesn’t prove anything. We won a big game, the series is far from over. We have to come back and play well enough to win on Thursday. I’m not trying to prove anything individually, the ultimate goal is to try to win the championship, one step at a time.”
